The US forest service has recently published a comprehensive report about the Sudden Oak Death in United States. This canker deasese caused by the fungus Phitophtora ramorum is at present a major threat for US oaks. It has caused the death of a lot of old oaks across this country.
At the same time this disease is feared by nursery managers across the globe assuming that it requires lot of prevention measures, because some nursery species (i.e. Viburnum tinus) are infected by a less infective strain of this disease.
